This is one of the many things they did NOT teach us in college or maybe this was one of the lessons I missed because I skipped class.

How to find a job after college

Now I know this may seem like an easy answer, like duh you just apply but it's not that simple. Maybe I should reiterate the question, how do you find the PERFECT job after college?

Quick disclaimer: If you came to this blog post looking for an answer on HOW to find a perfect job post-grad then I'm sorry this blog post is not going to answer it. In fact I'm actually looking for an answer myself!

If you were a great student like myself that means you followed the rules. They said create a resume, you did that. They said intern while in college, you did that times five. They said organize your job search, and you've created a spreadsheet that listed where you want to work, when you applied and if you heard back from them or not. You've done everything by the book but you still have not found that perfect job.

Now notice this post is about finding a JOB and not a CAREER the two are very different. Allow me to explain: A job is something that you have to make money, it helps you LIVE and helps you fund your dreams. A career is something that gives you LIFE, you do it because you're passionate not just to make money.

My ideal career would be one where I am my own boss. I am running my own PR Firm,I have a buttload of clients. I am traveling, doing different speaking engagements all across the country, I am attending a ton of different events, I'm continuing my journey of KUWK and sharing my life #OnTheBlog. Most importantly I am creating for a living.

Being that I am now a college graduate my level of what is considered a job and what isn't is different now that I'm older and have bills. When in high school I could easily go walk the mall and ask "are you hiring" and probably get a job on the spot at Charlotte Russe *RIP :'( making $7.25 an hour. Now that I am a whole adult I am looking for a job that can help pay for my car expenses, rent, phone expenses, money to travel, shopping money AND money to help fund my CAREER goals.

So really at this point I just need to make at least $100 an hour with 40 hours a week.

My idea of the perfect job post grad would be a job is that acts as a bridge between something to make money but also something that can be beneficial to my career.

As someone who would consider themselves a creative I would love to find a job where I can incorporate some of my creative ways or have a flexible enough schedule where I am still able to be creative outside of work. I would actually like to enjoy what I do at work not just make a check even at an entry level position.

But on what website do you apply to be an influencer/Entrepreneur/full-time blogger? Millennial problems *rolls eye

*This is a serious question please help! LOL

I have such a hard time applying for jobs because I don't know what to apply for. I know my overall career goals and my potential but as a creative how do you find work in alignment with your career goals? I literally type Public Relations in the search bar and hope that something close pops up and anything that sounds remotely close to what I am looking for requires 8-10 years of experience.

My overall battle here is do I try to find a happy medium where the pay is good and I actually kinda sorta enjoy what you do? Or am I being too ambitious and should just settle for a 9-5 job and worry about my dreams later? Security or fulfillment?

So now that you understand where I am coming from how do you find the PERFECT job post-grad and does the perfect job exist?

“If you chase anything in life chase the things that get you excited about living. Chase the things that give you hope, happiness and a glimpse of a better life. Chase the things that make you want to be a better person. Chase the things that inspire you to think, create and live joyfully. Chase the things that reinforce in your soul that you can make a difference. Chase the things that make you want to transform your heart from selfish to selfless. When you chase that kind of storm you are chasing rainbows.” ― Shannon L. Alder
