As you all know Houston was recently hit hard by Hurricane Harvey and devastated the lives of thousands. Thankfully my family and I survived the storm but to see those around me affected definitely was a hard sight to see. Houston has truly become my second home! So to see such a horrific thing happen to my city was heartbreaking.

I wanted to go out and help in anyway that I could. I have been helping those who lost EVERYTHING and assisting in rebuilding our community. I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to team up with my second family: the Flagg’s, God’s House of Worship and Praise and Gary Sprewell ministries as they constructed a Harvey Relief drive. We were able to help over 50 families supplying clothes, food, hygiene products, school supplies and more all packed into an 18-wheeler truck.

Our final destination of our Harvey Relief Drive was to volunteer at the George R. Brown Convention center, which is one of the main shelters for Harvey victims. We dressed as characters (Dora and Mickey) and passed out coloring books, toys and interacted with the kids. It was such an honor to bring joy to the face of children and adults. It really brought a smile to my face to do such a small gesture and see it have such a big impact on others. Who knew Mickey and Dora would bring smiles to hundreds of faces. I am thankful for the opportunity and am excited to continue to help Houston heal and rebuild!

Oh and by the way we made the news and were at the convention center the same time as Janet Jackson, no big deal! Lol

Until next time,
